July 23, 2013
Dear Current and Prospective Students,
It is my pleasure to welcome each of you to Ephesus Adventist Junior Academy for the 2013-2014, school year! We thank you for choosing to send your child/ren to EAJA and are eager to begin a new year with you and your family.
We are excited about the changes this year. First, we welcome two new teachers that will be joining our team. They are Ms. Howard and Ms. Carrington. Second, the science curriculum has been upgraded to include the national common core standards for learning, integrating a new textbook designed to promote inquiry learning. This type of learning has a heavy focus on solving problems by engaging, instructing and motivating the students and teacher to stretch the world of science.
In an effort to promote good health, the focus on wellness and health is still a part of our theme. Mrs. Patricia Goodman will help us begin the day with the total school exercising. Students will report to the parking lot at 7:55 A.M. Monday - Thursday. There will be a designated area on the lower parking lot for students to place their bags. Parents are asked to follow the path of the cones when entering the parking lot. Students arriving between 7:45 -7:55 A.M. will be received each morning in the school’s Science lab/Book Room by the administrative assistant. However, on Fridays, students are to report directly to the Science Lab/Book Room.
Dismissal procedure: All classes will be escorted to the chapel for dismissal. The teacher on duty posted at the side door will escort your child/ren to you. Parents may also come in and pick up child/ren. However, there will be the option to remain in your car and have your child escorted to you. Student left pass 3:15 will be taken to the office and a $10.00 fee for every 15 minutes late will be applied to tuition.
Fridays, students are to wear their gym uniforms. On Wednesday students are to wear dress uniforms- girls – maroon & grey front jumper or skirt (depending on grade), peter pan collar blouse, burgundy cardigan sweater, white/grey/ or burgundy socks, and dark colored shoes; boys – maroon sweater vest, grey pants with belt, button down collar shirt, burgundy tie, black or grey socks, and dark colored shoes. The gym uniform-ash gym tee shirt, maroon micromesh nylon gym shorts, ash heavy weight sweatshirt, and ash heavy weigh sweat pants. Dress down day, for $1.00, will be every Thursday.
Our school-wide theme is as follows: 1 Corinthians 16:13-14- “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.” All students are asked to memorize the school’s theme. The theme is posted in the glass bulletin board in the hall and in the classrooms. Take the challenge and try to memorize this verse by the first day of school!
Our doors are always open to parents. It is a privilege and pleasure to serve you and your students and we value the responsibility to the highest degree. Thank you for sharing your students with us and please do not hesitate to visit our school. At Ephesus Adventist Junior Academy, we believe in your students. We prepare each student for the workplace, future and the world to come. We believe it is our attitude and aesthetic approach that set the tone for success. EAJA is not just doing a job, we are building dreams. You are cordially invited to join us as we grow with our students at EAJA, the school chosen by God to serve this community.
Yours in Christ,
Sheresa Woodson, Principal
